Movin'

Sat Aug 16, 2008, 4:39 PM
I'm moving out to California, to go to school in L.A. It's a three day trip with all my stuff, my parents my grandmother (who has a bad knee), my sister, all their stuff, and me all crammed in a rented mini-van. Fun. But I've got movies in my laptop, a fully charged ipod and several good books to finish, so things aren't too bad. Plus I'm really excited about los angeles.

  • Mood: Content
  • Listening to: Noah & The Whale- Five Years Time
  • Reading: Dance Dance Dance by Murakami
  • Watching: North by NorthWest
  • Eating: cheese cookies (grandma's recipe, don't ask)
  • Drinking: iced coffee

I need new tactics.

I'm gonna try and be a more active member of the deviant art community, but I'm not exactly sure where to start. I've tried looking for art I like, but all I'm really finding is anime and stock photography. I don't know. I;m getting frustrated with this whole mess. I don't understand how a drawing that takes me several hours to finish gets ten views while s random picture someone snapped of their cat is getting upwards of 200 views. No offense to people who take pictures of their cats, I'm not upset with you, I'm more upset with myself, and it's not like I'm looking for that much recognition, it would just make me happy if more than a handful of people looked at some of my pieces.

Another thing adding to my angst is the fact that "Green Fairy" is still my most viewed piece. It's my least favorite of all the things I've done, it's completely meaningless, it something I did in like thirty minutes when i was bored one day, but for some reason it's just (and pardon my language) the "shit".

Sorry to gripe for an entire entry, but i needed to vent somewhere....

Accordion.....

Wed Jul 9, 2008, 8:00 PM
I got an accordion for my eighteenth birthday, and i'm pretty pumped about it...
I'm still learning how to play it, but I've already got the first part of Le Valse D'Amelie down and I'm working on Elephant Gun by Beirut, I'm probably gonna use it in some pictures pretty soon.

  • Listening to: After The Curtain- Beirut
  • Watching: Rushmore
  • Eating: Curry
  • Drinking: Ice Tea
